Grounded in the language of Byzantine Iconography, Christine Hales' Icons create another world for the viewer, a parallel reality filled with the wonder of God's Kingdom. Hales' work has been included in numerous national exhibitions, such as Visions Gallery, Albany, NY, Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, GA, Museum of the Hudson Highlands, Slate Museum, Granville, NY, Cork Gallery, Lincoln Art Center, NYC, Putnam Arts Council, Mahopac, NY. She has had solo exhibitions at McDaris Fine Art Gallery, Hudson, NY, Beauregard Fine Art Gallery, Rumson, NJ, University of New England, Biddeford, ME, Visions Art Gallery, Albany, NY, Garrison Art Center, Garrison, NY, College of New Rochelle, Castle Gallery, among others.
Hales has been awarded grants to pursue art projects and to fund artist residencies in Vermont at the Vermont Studio Center, Greene County Council of Art, New York, Nantucket Arts Council, Nantucket, MA, Putnam Arts Council, Mahopac, NY, and the GIG Grant, Maine Commission on Art. Her Icons and paintings are in many private as well as Church collections, such as Saint Vincent's Church, Albany, NY, Saint Patrick's Church, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Saint Peter's Church, Lakewood, Ohio, among others,TRW, Citibank, San Diego, Sands Hotel, Hollywood Florida, Hunnewell, Boston, MA.
